Artist, Kaitlyn Stone, was commissioned to do these portraits of several of our horses for us. She is an amazing young cartoonist with an exciting career ahead of her I am sure!

The Holstein Christmas Parade 2008

The Holstein Christmas Parade is a mid-December annual event in the town of Holstein, Ontario, in which Maple Mountain Miniatures takes part every year. This is an all animal, no motorized vehicles parade which attracts large numbers of visitors from all over. Everyone meets at the Township building on the edge of town where organizers provide the participants with chili and hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate. The parade starts out from there at 1 p.m., runs down the main street and ends up at the school on the other side of town. It is a photo spectacle for all who attend and a joy to participate in.

Maple Mountain also took part in the Christmas Parades in Caledonia and Cayuga and were photographed and interviewed for the Caledonia Sachem newspaper just prior to the Cayuga Parade.

Below are some photos from Maple Mountain's 2008 show season which included the MHCO show circuit, AMHR Ontario show circuit, AMHR Area 2 National show, several Ontario Fall Fair shows and a trip to the National show in Tulsa. The girls had lots of fun camping out at the Area 2 show with friends Yvonne Mangan, Desiree Wallace and Joe Heath. What beautiful show grounds they were! Mackenzie DeGelder had another very successful year with our Armando's Simply Elegant in both the MHCO and AMHR shows. Seven year old Mickey showed Maple Mountain's newest filly, Caylee's Mistic Bay as well as her gelding, MiLo's Classic Ladies Man at the fall fairs. Randi Harvey joined us at the end of the season to participate in a couple of the fall fair shows with Maple Mountain's Jem Dusky's Dream who, driven by Lori, also took some very nice ribbons at the Area show. The costume theme this year, planned and created by Dale, was The Wizard of Oz and the whole show team took a part in it.

Westfield Heritage Village Fall Fun Drive

Once again Maple Mountain took part in the Tri County Carriage Driving Association's Fall Fun Drive held at Westfield Heritage Village just outside Rockton, Ontario. It was a beautiful fall day with blue skies and colourful fall leaves. Lori Rafter and Randi Harvey drove Jem Dusky's Dream to a 2 wheel Mini Meadowbrook made by Doug Jantzi of Newton, Ontario. There were 7 other hitches present to tour around the miles of trails that wind throughout the village, with its collection of historic buildings, and the maple sugar bush. A stop was made mid afternoon for a light lunch and some socializing with the club members. Afterwards most people took the opportunity to hitch up and go for another drive. Westfield Heritage Village is a volunteer run venture and a delightful place to spend the day!
